This guide will show you how to update wp-cli on a shared server (if you are root) running cPanel and CloudLinux + CageFS.

Logged in as root check your current version:

    Code:
    wp --info --allow-root
The return should look something like:

    Run command:
    wp cli update --allow-root

It will detect current version and offer you a newer version if available:

    Confirm change:
    Code:
    wp --info --allow-root
If good now update CageFS so all users have new version:
    Code:
    cagefsctl --force-update
Change to a user and verify the change:
    Code:
    su user
    wp --info
